We are looking for an experienced in-house legal advisor to support healthcare operations and compliance functions on a remote basis for 20-30 hours a week. This Contract position serves as a practical legal advisor for a multi-state organization delivering home and community-based services and programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role works closely with operational leaders, compliance partners, and risk stakeholders to address legal questions, strengthen governance practices, and guide contract and regulatory matters. Candidates should be comfortable providing business-focused counsel in a fast-moving environment while managing sensitive information with sound judgment.Responsibilities:• Provide day-to-day legal guidance to operational teams on matters that affect healthcare service delivery, business practices, and regulatory compliance.• Partner with leaders across operations, compliance, external affairs, and risk to deliver practical counsel on legal exposures, claims issues, and policy-related questions.• Prepare, revise, and negotiate a range of business agreements, including funding arrangements, staffing contracts, leases, and vendor documentation.• Support corporate governance activities by drafting resolutions, reviewing meeting records, and coordinating required annual filings and related records.• Assist with legal review for business transactions and due diligence efforts tied to organizational initiatives and strategic opportunities.• Coordinate litigation-related activity with outside counsel when needed and work with insurance and risk partners on claims oversight and resolution.• Interpret federal healthcare requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, fraud and abuse rules, and program integrity expectations, while advising on operational impact.• Contribute legal support for state-specific Medicaid requirements and waiver-related matters affecting service programs across multiple jurisdictions.
